Invest News DetailHürriyet - Japanese industrial conglomerate Toshiba is soon to take concrete steps for a deal to build Türkiye’s second nuclear power plant on the country’s Black Sea coast, according to Türkiye’s Minister of Science, Industry and Technology, Nihat Ergun, currently in Japan on an official visit. Minister Ergun said that Toshiba preferred to cooperate with a local company for the financing, construction and operation of the nuclear power plant to be built in the Black Sea province of Sinop. Türkiye has reached a deal with Moscow to build the country’s first nuclear plant in Akkuyu, Mersin. South Korean, Chinese, as well as Japanese companies are on the negotiating table for the Sinop plant. Speaking to reporters following his meeting with the members of the Turkish-Japanese Business Council in Tokyo, Ergun called on Japanese companies to invest in Türkiye and take advantage of the new incentive scheme. The Minister said that Türkiye’s new incentive scheme aroused considerable interest among Japanese companies towards Türkiye, a fact affirmed by the council’s Chairman Kazuaki Kama, who said that Japanese investors are more eager to invest in Türkiye with the new incentive package. Besides its growing energy market, Türkiye’s multi-billion-dollar Fatih Project is also a focus of attention in Japan, as the Minister’s visit reveals. Japanese tech giants Fujitsu and NEC have both expressed interest the high-tech education initiative, which envisages equipping millions of public school students with tablet PCs.
