Privatization of Turkish sugar factories to begin in August

Hurriyet English - The Privatization Administration Board will initiate the process for the privatization of sugar factories in August, Metin Kilci, Chairman of the Administration told the state-run Anatolian Agency on Friday. "We will privatize 25 factories as six separate portfolio groups according to their geographical criteria and their proximity to each other. Privatization of all sugar factories will have begun within six months. Both Turkish and foreign investors are interested in the privatization of sugar factories," Kilci said. Kilci stated that the privatization process for Türkiye's state-owned National Lottery (Milli Piyango) would also begin in the coming weeks. "We have not yet made an exact decision about the method and the duration. But we plan to use the method of granting a ten-year license in the privatization of the National Lottery" he added. Kilci said that the draft about the privatization of bridges and highways had not been enacted by the parliament yet.
