Italian Eldor to make Izmir a hub for hybrid automobiles

Dunya – The European automobile giants consider the Italian Eldor –which owns a factory in the western Turkish province of Izmir– as a hub for their hybrid and electric vehicle manufacturing operations. The technology of hybrid and electric automobiles planned to be manufactured by BMW, VW, Fiat and Renault, is developed by Eldor. Eldor develops electric engines and other components in its R&D center in Genoa and will start to produce them in its Izmir facilities within 1.5 years. On the other hand, the company also aims to make its Izmir facilities in the Aegean Free Zone a hub for manufacturing this technology within ten years.
