BSH Türkiye turnover up 6 percent, investments on track

Aksam - White goods producer BSH announced an increase of 6 percent in its annual turnover in Türkiye, reaching TRY 2.4 billion (approx. USD 1.5 billion) in 2010. Sales figures in the domestic market, increased by 9 percent, comprised more than half of company’s total sales at TRY 1.4 billion (approx. USD 924 million), while TRY 982 million (approx. USD 648 million) worth of exports were realized, also up 3 percent over the previous year. The company controls nearly a third of Türkiye’s white goods market with its 31 percent share.

Speaking to the press about fiscal year results, BSH Board Chairman Norbert Klein said that the company has spent TRY 135 million (approx. USD 90 million) in its Cerkezkoy plant in 2010. “BSH’s manufacturing plant in Cerkezkoy has become the company’s largest in white goods production,” said Klein, reiterating BSH’s confidence in Türkiye.

Earlier this year, BSH launched a EUR 300 million investment program that includes setting up a research and development (R&D) center and inclusion of new production lines in its plant in Cerkezkoy, Tekirdag.

“The upgrading of Cerkezkoy plant is the first stage of BSH’s investment plan in Türkiye. The company also plans to start the production of small home appliances,” Klein told reporters.
