Turkey ‘strategic’ in Dia’s growth strategy

Hurriyet - Spain’s discount supermarket chain Dia celebrated its 1,000th store opening in Turkey. The Spanish company has partnered Turkey’s Sabanci Group in its DiaSA venture in Turkey’s booming organized retail sector.

“Turkey emerged as a strategic country in Dia’s emerging market operations”, Dia Group CEO Ricardo Curras told reporters in the opening ceremony. “Dia has over 6,000 stores in seven countries. Turkey is the second largest market in terms of given franchises and the third in number of stores,” said Curras, underlining the importance the company attaches to Turkey.

Active in Turkey for 11 years, the company’s annual investments in Turkey amount to EUR 30 million.
