Türkiye and Libya agree to lift visas, improve trade

Hurriyet Daily News - The Turkish and Libyan prime ministers agreed on Tuesday to lift visas between the two countries during a visit to Tripoli by Türkiye’s Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and State Minister for Foreign Trade, Zafer Caglayan. “Our countries reached an agreement to lift visas”, said Libya’s Prime Minister al-Baghdadi Ali al-Mahmudi after a meeting with Erdogan in Tripoli, according to Anatolian news agency. The move to lift visas complements Caglayan’s statements that business relations with Libya are set to improve. On Tuesday, Caglayan stated that Türkiye has assumed projects worth USD 21 billion in Libya to date. In Tripoli, Caglayan told reporters that Libya has promised business worth billions of dollars to Turkish entrepreneurs. The Turkish government is constantly working to increase Türkiye's trade volume with Libya, said Caglayan, adding that Türkiye has also reached an agreement with Libya to get together every three months and focus on problems.
