On June 20, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke at the inauguration ceremony for the Prof. Dr. Asaf Ataseven Hospital and then cut the ribbon to mark the official opening of Istanbul’s newest hospital.
During his speech, President Erdoğan focused his remarks on Turkey’s success in handling the COVID-19 outbreak and said that this was mainly due to the recently-made investments both in the healthcare and infrastructure sectors.
“I am of the belief that inaugurating a facility such as this hospital amid the pandemic, during which we have better understood the value of health, is of distinct significance,” Erdoğan said. “Every crisis we live makes us realize yet again the importance of the distance Turkey has covered in the areas of infrastructure and basic services over the past 18 years.”
Turkish parliamentary speaker Mustafa Şentop and Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
