Amid the global economic challenges caused by Covid-19, Türkiye is finding ways to continue its trade activities. The DP World Yarımca Port, operating in the northwestern province of Kocaeli, welcomed the arrival of a gigantic container ship named “MSC Tina,” one of the largest of its kind in the world with 19,224-container capacity.
DP World announced that the terminal received the ship, which was operating under a dual partnership of Maersk and MSC, has a significant share in Türkiye’s commercial relations with East Asia. According to the written statement released by the company, the 2M consortium put aside concerns related to the Covid-19 outbreak and agreed on enlarging the capacity of their ships carrying goods to the country.
"The DP World Yarımca terminal marked the first stop for the MSC Tina ship, which has a 19,224 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) capacity, the largest of any ship coming to Türkiye. The modern design and technological capacity of the 922-meter-long dock at DP World Yarımca's terminal allow for the docking of two 400-meter-long container ships simultaneously,” the company reported.
